Since four years ago, Nan Jing has began to monitor PM2.5, analyze the data and find the source of it. “PM2.5 is a secondary pollutant form industry, dust pollution, and daily life. “ A staff of environmental protection agency told us. Vehicle exhaustion occupy more than 30%, industry and dust pollution occupy 30%. The rest is soot pollution.

From the past four years data, environmental protection agency found that it has seasonal characteristic. Autumn and winter, PM2.5 is higher because of air pollution is difficult to spread and clear. Spring Festival fireworks dischargeand the summer harvest straw burning, the PM2.5 concentrations in February and June will increase on certain number of days. 7-9 month of summer rainfall and favorable diffusion conditions of PM2.5 concentrations are relatively low.

“With the increase of cars,vehicle exhaustion will lead the increase of PM2.5 and become the main pollution.” A staff of environmental protection agency said.

However, air quality cannot be totally dependent on the weather, the Ministry of Environmental Protection official said, the announcement of PM2.5 purpose is to control pollution emissions. End of this month will announce PM2.5 monitoring data from three state-controlled points of the pasture gate, Xianlin and Zhonghua Gate. The Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau said that this data does not indicate the PM2.5 pollution in all of the city, in order to allow the public a more comprehensive understanding of PM2.5 concentration in the future Nanjing will publish more monitoring data.
